L’Ecole de Denver is currently seeking a Francophone and English Pre-K Assistant for the 2023-24 school year:
- Bilingual Preschool Assistant (Maternelle Petite et Moyenne Section) – 1 position for French assistant
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Supporting School Culture:
- Create a nurturing, safe, engaging and rigorous learning environment
- Foster trusting collaborative relationships with families
- Understand and implement culturally responsive teaching practices
- Establish consistent expectations and classroom routines for students
- Demonstrate resourcefulness in solving problems, strong organizational and time management skills, and keen attention to detail
Instruction:
- Establish clear learning goals and objectives related to the L’Ecole curriculum
- Plan, prepare and present lessons, assignments, and instructional materials aligned to French National curriculum
- Differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs
- Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development in order to maintain complete and accurate records of student’s academic, language and social/emotional progress
- Analyze student assessment data to inform instructional planning
- Provide instruction remotely if necessary
Development and Collaboration:
- Participate in regular feedback sessions from colleagues and school leaders to improve instructional practices
- Participate and contribute to collaborative staff development sessions that drive school improvement and growth of school
- Support the school mission as member of the leadership team for the school
- Support the accreditation of the school by the French Ministry of Education
- Continually improve skill and knowledge base in current research and best practices among the following topics: language immersion, second language acquisition, culturally responsive education, classroom technology use, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections
Education, training and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required
- Completion of a teacher preparation program and 3+ years successful teaching experience in a French language immersion setting preferred
- Teaching certificate from The French Ministry of Education (or a Francophone Ministry of Education) or the American Council of Teaching Foreign Languages preferred
- For teachers applying to Middle school position, preferred specialization in Math or Science
- Hold or be eligible for a Colorado Teaching Certificate
- International Experience (travel abroad, etc…) highly preferred
